IDEAS, PATTERNS & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – DENTSU WEBCHUTNEY

The human brain is pretty good at recognising and rearranging patterns – but it’s being outperformed by Artificial Intelligence, according to Dentsu Webchutney’s Vishal Sagar and Gurbaksh Singh, who are presenting at ADFEST 2019. How far are we from a future where bots take over the role of creatives?

“The human brain is a pattern recognition and rearranging system. But now we have developed a system much better than the human brain at recognizing patterns: Artificial Intelligence. It can analyze millions of patterns in seconds – a feat that the human brain can never achieve,” they explain.

Already, most traditional and process-oriented jobs can now be done better by bots. Every day, AI is getting more and more capable of pulling off tasks that require some level of dynamic thinking.

“Creativity is a trait that is believed to be unique to humans. Birds and animals are creative too but their creativity is limited. Humans, on the other hand, can do so much more with their creativity. Creativity is the final frontier for AI and the last hope for humans. But, if we look closely, patterns start to emerge even in the creative pieces. After all, there are only 7 unique storylines. What happens when A.I. starts to recognize and mimic creative patterns? How can companies that are creative in nature evolve?”

Together, Sagar and Singh will shed light on the future of ideas, patterns and A.I. Their credentials are impressive. Sagar is an Engineer by qualification, and a storyteller at heart. As Creative Director at Dentsu Webchutney in Gurgaon, he has over 100 national and international awards to his credit – including the agency’s first Silver ADFEST Lotus. In 2018, Dentsu Webchutney was crowned the Digital and Mobile Agency of the Year at Goafest, India for the very first time.

Meanwhile, Singh is Dentsu Webchutney’s Chief Creative Technologist and creator of India’s first innovation lab within an advertising agency. He has over 16 years of experience in advertising including 11 years at Webchutney. Outside of agency life, he loves DIY culture and spends most of his time tinkering with new technologies. He firmly believes that the future will be built at the intersection of humanity and technology.
