Five Fabulous New Directors took the stage
to debut their short films to the ADFEST 2025 theme, COLLiDE. From a total of 26 scripts submitted from across 6 cities,
these 5 up-and-coming Directors’ scripts were voted the 5 favourite scripts by
the juries of the Film Craft Lotus & New Director Lotus panel. The
Directors brought the scripts to life to premiere their short films and their
inspirations behind them.
“IM PERFECTION” written
and directed by Mika Sasaki, Director, from TYO
Inc., Tokyo won
the Commendation Prize as voted by the Film Craft Lotus & New Director Lotus panel.
“ICE” by Haruna Takahara,
Director form HAT, Tokyo won the hearts of the delegates and won the
Popular Vote.
The other Fabulous Five New Directors and their films are:
- “YOUR DADDY” by Tomoya Matsushita, Director, AOI Pro., Tokyo
- “RINTIK” by Azlan Som, Assistant Director, Logic & Magic, Kuala Lumpur
- “OBSTACLE” by Mayuka Kawamura, Director, AOI Pro., Tokyo
Each of Fabulous Five film was different in its interpretation, approach, and execution, which made each and every film unique.
All Fabulous Five Short Films will be automatically accepted to the Young Director Award (YDA), an award specifically dedicated to rising directorial talents. This year, the films will also be accepted to the LA Shorts.
