FESTIVAL : TRADEMARK THAI STORYTELLING: BEHIND THE EPIC SUCCESS OF ‘FRIENDSHIT’

One of Asia’s most memorable ads in recent years would have to be ‘Friendshit’, which won the Grande Branded Entertainment Lotus at ADFEST 2019.

 

Created by GREYnJ UNITED Bangkok for Kasikornbank Thailand (KBank), ‘Friendshit’ – along with its two hilariously deadpan characters – is Thai storytelling at its best.

 

ADFEST 2019’s Grand Jury President Mark Tutssel said: “The storytelling is trademark Thai. The humour connects with its audience in a unique and fresh way. It skillfully showcases the product benefits and encourages teens to leverage the power and value of the platform.

 

“The film was contagious and entered the national zeitgeist, capturing people’s imagination and propelling the brand forward. It spread like wildfire reaching one million views in 3 hours. And the business impact was colossal, with downloads of the app rocketing by 28% within a day. Creating 20 million transactions every 24 hours, making it the most activated app in Thailand”.

 

Since winning the Grande at ADFEST 2019, GREYnJ UNITED has unveiled a new campaign for K Bank starring ‘Renaissance Man’ – a multi-talented man who has it all. He can box, teach, cook, play sonatas – all thanks to KBank’s MADHUB, the hub for online makers and dreamers.

 

Renaissance Man’ is GREYnJ UNITED’s third consecutive campaign for KBank. It follows the success of ‘Face/off’ – a campaign so quirky, it makes banking app updates seem fascinating.

 

So who’s behind the success of GREYnJ UNITED’s KBank campaigns? Leading a talented team is Jureeporn (Judee) Thaidumrong, GREYnJ UNITED’s Chief Creative Officer.

 

Judee is one of Thailand’s most influential creatives, and one of the world’s most humble advertising gurus. She was also named the 2019 Lotus Legend at ADFEST 2019.
