An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, Sambit has spent over two decades in advertising & design across agencies such as JWT, Lowe-Lintas, DDB, Leo Burnett and Elephant Design.
Currently the Creative Head (North & South) at McCann Worldgroup (India), he is responsible for the creative output on brands such as Air India, Dettol, Nestle/Maggi, Britannia, ITC, TVS Motors, Ujjivan Bank, etc.
His activation idea for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank – ‘Shagun Ka Lifafa’ - won a Gold Lions at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity, 2022. It also went on to win two Golds and a Grand Clio, two D&AD pencils, the Jay Chiat Award, and many more internationally.
Sambit has helped create other memorable campaigns such as Facebook ‘Thumbstoppers’, the ‘Lost Votes’ campaign for The Times of India and the Tata Steel corporate campaign ‘We Also Make Tomorrow’.
Given his diverse experience, he has worked across a spectrum of brands such as Coke, Adidas, Bata, Wrigley’s, Reckitt-Benckiser (Dettol, Mortein, Harpic, Lizol), McVities, Nestle, HP, BBC World and more.
Over the course of his career, Sambit has won numerous international awards including Cannes Lions, Clios, D&AD Pencils, One Show Pencils, Spikes Asia, etc. And closer home, multiple Effies, Kyoorius Elephants and Abbies.
In the past, he has been acknowledged by Business Standard as one of ‘India’s Gen-Next Creative Brains’. Also been profiled extensively in industry media such as Afaqs, Campaign and Economic Times Brand Equity.
Sambit is part of the visiting faculty at the reputed Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon and his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi.
He was recently a TedX Speaker at Symbiosis University, Pune.
An avid quizzer, he’s had the distinction of being a finalist in BBC Mastermind and National winner of the Brand Equity Quiz. A biker at heart, Sambit’s other interests include graphic novels and a growing sneaker collection.
